They are Lot 308, a neat, compact colt from the seven-win Sundon mare Sunny Folly NZ, and Lot 257, a tall, rangy chestnut filly from another daughter of Sundon, Always Treasure NZ (6 wins).

The S J’s Photo horse Bacardi Lindy, who was originally at stud in Victoria and is now based in New Zealand, has been a leading sire in Australia for the last eight years.

Among his winners have been a triple Vicbred champion and dual Oaks winner in Claudy’s Princess, The Boss Man, who has won four country cups, Cruisin Around (Vicbred and Breeders Crown 3YO Finals), Margaret Ruth and Bellmac Kody. Actually Bacardi Lindy’s percentage of winners-to-starters rates him highly.

Bacardi Lindy has four entries in the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday and two are being consigned by Cranbourne breeder-owner and former club administrator David Scott.

They are Lot 308, a neat, compact colt from the seven-win Sundon mare Sunny Folly NZ, and Lot 257, a tall, rangy chestnut filly from another daughter of Sundon, Always Treasure NZ (6 wins).

A September foal, the colt ranks as a half-brother to five winners including the Redwood winner and dual Oaks placegetter Elusive Charm (10 wins and $86,564), who, in turn, is the dam of last year’s Vicbred Home Grown 2YO Classic winner Is That A Bid.

Others from Sunny Folly are Invasive 1:57.4 ($141,084), the winner of 16 races including a heat of the Great Southern Star and a consolation of the Victoria Derby, Son Of Paco (Breeders Crown heat) and Doctor Sam (8 wins).

The colt’s third dam, Game Folly, who earned $100,937 and was named NZ Trotting Mare of the Year, produced seven winners headed up by the NZ 3YO Trotting Filly of the Year Arnee’s Frolic.

The filly, who is also a September foal, belongs to one of NZ’s most successful families of trotters. Her second-dam, Brite Chrystal, was a winning half-sister to the SA Gramel Series winner Saybia and the NZ Oaks runner-up Kristalvagen.

Further back in the filly’s pedigree is the Inter Dominion Trotting champion Fraggle Rock and the ID heat placegetter Little Rock.

The youngsters are both being prepared by experienced horseman Albert Davis and his wife Ellen, of Equine Reproduction Services, Numurkah. For an inspection phone Albert on 0447 821 360.

The Australasian Premier Trotting Sale will commence immediately following the conclusion of APG's Melbourne Sale which starts at 10 am. We will have online and telephone bidding options available if you are unable to attend. If you have any issues with the online registrations, John Coffey has personally inspected all of the Melbourne yearlings and will be pleased to answer any questions that you may have on the individuals featuring in the sale, or to bid on your behalf.  John can be contacted on 0418 500 211.

Please phone Louise Toulmin on 0400 950 699 or e-mail her at louiset@apgold.com.au and she’ll be pleased to assist you with your pre-sale bidding approvals or to answer any other questions that you may have.
