Media Release from the Chief Executive Officer regarding Field Selection

26 February 2019 | HRSA

Effective immediately, all fields, excluding those for races prescribed in Schedule 1, will be selected on monies earned in the past five (5) starts. For horses with less than five (5) race day starts earnings will be calculated by averaging the monies earned in the starts to date and equating these to the horse having had five race starts.

Horses nominated to race for the first, second and third occasion will be assured of a start, subject to the programmed race proceeding.

Unless specifically stated, all fields will be selected in descending prize money order (highest earner selected first). However there will be occasions whereby specific races are selected from `bottom up’ where horses will be selected in ascending prize money won in their previous five starts.

For avoidance of doubt earnings will be determined as stakes earned, including incentive starter payments, but excluding bonuses.
