The Stawell Father's Day meeting was a huge success yesterday.

The Stawell trots club held a hugely successful Father’s Day race meeting yesterday.

A large crowd attended the event, which was supported by funds from the State Government’s Raceday Attraction Program.

In addition to the on-track trots action activities included a V8 simulator with trophies to dads and children with the fastest lap, bucking bull, sumo suits, laser tag, model train display and a visit by the Grampians Car Club.

One of the most popular displays was the homebrew area, organised by the local home brewing business in Stawell, which gave away two homebrew kids.

The club also had two skydive prizes drawn, which will be held in Horsham next month by the Nagambie Skydive Company, and a Grampians Helicopter Flight prize, which will see the lucky winners enjoy a great day out visiting local wineries..

One of the novel ideas from the club was to run a competition in local papers for families to nominate dads for race names, with the winners also able to enjoy lunch on the club. This attracted many new faces to the meeting who hadn’t attended trots before.

Stawell confirmed the club bistro served over 140 meals for the day, as well as snack foods and the local Lions Club branch held a successful sausage sizzle.

The club also presented local champion and world record driver Kerryn Manning to the large crowd.

The Stawell Club has confirmed it will look at continuing this event next year.
