An exceptionally strong line-up of race-winning mares and winner-producing mares augurs well for the 2016 Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale to be conducted by Graeme Board & Company at the Bathurst Showground on Sunday, March 20.

Of the 129 lots to be presented, 83 are out of race-winners – including 35 sub 2:00 mares - and 71 are from winner-producers including a host of ‘black type’ performers.

Heading the list of race-winning dams are the Oaks winners Scent 1:57.9 ($122,082) and My Cherie 1:59.8 ($338,265), Miss Nobilo, winner of the NSW Pink Bonnet, Lady Titian Lombo 1:59.4 (Edgar Tatlow), the WA Sires Stakes champion Edna Anne 1:55.4 ($105,811), the Vic. Harness Breeders Classic winners Our Santa Catalina (1:55.6) and Our Ladylight (1:56.7) and the QBred Triad victor Aldebaran 1:55.6 ($154,289).

The classic heat winners Howard’s Dilemma ($75,806), Missflite, Eternal Love 1:58.4 ($83,067), Christy 1:59.4 ($87,943), Ciara 1:58.8, Cherry’s Angel, Lady Lara Lombo, Miss Zo Zo (1:57.1), Unspoiled, The Magic Of Life (1:58.8), Get A Haircut, Duchess Of Dubai (2:00), Golden Rule, Lombo Onahi and Venus Ace have yearlings listed for sale.

Other metropolitan winning racemares represented include Deetroublemaker 1:56.6 ($118,936), The Peace Rose (1:55.4), Straight Left 1:56.6 ($83,738), Golden Bow (1:57.7), My Janes Cullen (1:57.6) and Krysta.

The 71 winner-producing dams in the catalogue have left 184 individual winners between them.

Scent, who has produced eight winners from 10 foals – including seven in 2:00, is undoubtedly the most prolific broodmare represented at the sale. Her progeny are headed up by the Group and Listed winners Makes Every Scents 1:55.1 ($202,625), winner of the Bathurst Gold Tiara, and Governor Art 1:58.6 ($189,250), winner of the NSW Edgar Tatlow.

My Cherie, Get A Haircut and Pierry have all left seven winners. My Cherie’s progeny are headed up by Albercross 1:58.5 ($148,624); Get A Haircut is the dam of Allucan ($86,213) and Pierry has left three inside 2:00.

Besides the abovementioned, there’s half-brothers or sisters to a swag of ‘black type’ performers in the sale including the NSW Sires Stakes champions Usane Flash and Muddy River, Nickle Miss (Tas. Oaks), Karloo Kix (NSW Chokin Championship), Speriamo (Redcliffe 2YO Sales Classic) and the $100,000 winners Lord Lombo, Goulburn Guy, Must Be Nice, Run Riley Run, Treuative and Strongbow Lombo.
