Harness Racing Victoria will implement a new Change of Tactics (COT) process effective November 2.

From that date trainers will be required to phone the COT hotline before a cut-off time, which will be one hour prior to the first race of that meeting.

The Chairman of Stewards for the meeting will then check the COT message bank and load all COT notifications on to the Stewards Wrap news section of harness.org.au

A dedicated COT link will appear for that meeting.

The stewards will also tweet the COT notifications at this point via the @HRVinformer account, the race caller at the meeting will announce the changes and the notice board outside the stewards’ room will be updated.

HRV Chairman of Stewards Nick Murray said: “HRV stewards in consultation with the Victorian Harness Racing Trainers and Drivers Association consider that by implementing this initiative it should give all participants a greater awareness of identified driving tactics within the race, and also make that information more readily available and in a more timely manner for the betting public.”
