EMPIRE STALLIONS VICBRED SUPER SERIES

Wed @ Charlton, 4.47pm - Race 8: 4YO E&G 2nd HEAT

The Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series action is heating up with a crack line-up of four-year-olds to do battle at Charlton on Wednesday.

Back from his recent placing in the Harness Jewels in New Zealand, Messini has drawn gate one for in-form horseman Brent Lilley.

The reigning Vicbred Super Series champion gets the services of champion reinsman Chris Alford and will certainly take some beating.

"He's settled in really well, he's good as gold," Lilley said.

"He's nearly clocked up more frequent flyer miles than big Trev! (Trevor Casey, one of Messini's owners).

"He's got really good speed off the arm and he should take a forward position."

Drawn alongside in barrier two is a Terang up-and-comer from the Marg Lee stables, Keayang Active.

He looked super winning a heat of the Rising Stars before a big run in the Final when he strode along like a star before getting pipped at the finish by Hollywood Sign.

Last time out Keayang Active had to sit parked outside of Barynya at Melton and battled on for fourth.

Hectorjayjay will come out gate five for Simone Walker, the son of Dream Away a last-start Ballarat winner in 1:54.3 after running third in the 4YO & 5YO Championship behind rising superstar Lennytheshark.

Jilliby Jagger is a classy son of Grinfromeartoear who is drawn gate nine and will trail out Keayang Active.

The Glen Craven pacer has won eight of 15 starts and rated 1:55.1 on a wet track when defeating Big Spook and All Eyes On Us last start.

The Fat Man is blessed with his fair share of ability but is drawn awkwardly in gate 10 for trainer David Lewis and driver John Caldow.

The Fat Man has lined up 21 times for 12 wins and three minor placings.

Throw in Major Secret, Captain Under Fire, Time Capsule, Adam Cartwright and Taswegian La Premiere in this is going to be an intriguing contest.
