Savesomtimetodream has been nominated for Sunday's Hamilton Pacing Cup
A magnificent fun day of festivities, prizes, family entertainment and great racing will be on offer at the annual Hamilton Pacing Cup this Sunday thanks to assistance from the Victorian Coalition Government.
This year’s big Cup meeting follows last year’s which attracted a massive crowd of over 2,400 people see Lets Slash and Burn take home the big prize.
Minister for Racing Denis Napthine and Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty said the Hamilton Harness Racing Club’s major raceday of the year will focus on families and ‘Living Local Plus’, which brings local community groups together to showcase what Hamilton has to offer.
“There is a fantastic range of entertainment and activities on the day including Fashions on the Field, live music and a sulky race competition for local sporting clubs with $1000 to the winning club.” Dr Napthine said.
Families are an important part of racing and there will be loads of kid’s entertainment on the day including:
· a mobile zoo;
· pony trots;
· a jumping castle;
· merry-go-round; and
· face painting
“The Hamilton Pacing Cup’s ‘Living Local Plus’ theme is a great way for local community groups, including Police, the Country Fire Authority and State Emergency Services to promote themselves and demonstrate how they help the community,” Dr Napthine said.
“There is also a joint on-course promotion between the Hamilton and Horsham Harness Racing Clubs which will see racegoers have a chance to win a Gold Coast family holiday
“Free buses are being provided from Mt Gambier and Hamilton to ferry patrons to and from the track and free racebooks will be given to racegoers who book marquee packages,” Dr Napthine said.
Hamilton Harness Racing Club Secretary Francis Pekin said that the Matthews Petroleum Hamilton Pacing Cup is an extremely important country Cup meeting in the Western District.
“The funding from the Government is critical for our club to be able to provide a whole range of activities to bring the community together to enjoy this big family day out,” Mr Pekin said.
“We congratulate the Minister for Racing Dr Napthine and local MP Hugh Delahunty for their support and promotion of our Cup meeting,” he said.
The Coalition Government’s Raceday Attraction Program has provided $14,000 for the raceday promotion with the Club providing $9,800 and sponsors a further $4,215.
