Villagem is but one of the stars that could break the elusive 1:50.0 mark.
Harness Racing Victoria today launched the SEW-Eurodrive Flying Free For All; a brand new sprint offering lucrative speed incentives to pave the way for faster, exciting racing.
The race, which will be staged at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Friday February 25, is offering an additional $60,000 of possible speed bonuses on top of the $20,000 race stake.
The three-tiered incentive scheme will be payable in the following scenarios:
• A bonus of $15,000 will be payable ($5000 to the winning owner, $5000 to the winning trainer and $5000 to the winning driver) if the winner betters the Tabcorp Park Melton 1720 metres Track Record Mile Rate of 1:52.5 OR
• A bonus of $30,000 will be payable ($10,000 to the winning owner, $10,000 to the winning trainer and $10,000 to the winning driver) if the winner betters the Australian Race Record Mile Rate of 1:50.3 OR
• A bonus of $60,000 will be payable ($20,000 to the winning owner, $20,000 to the winning trainer and $20,000 to the winning driver) if the winner betters the Mile Rate of 1:50.0 for the first time in Australia.

“Tabcorp Park, Melton is the perfect track to achieve such bonuses based on the track’s design and quality surface.
“We saw a thrilling, record-breaking win by Villagem in the Group 2 Caravan Industry Vic Legends Sprint last November in 1:52.5, and consider the 1:50.0 mark to be achievable.
With the introduction of the SEW-Eurodrive Flying Free For All, The Stampede which was originally programmed to be conducted on this night, will now be run at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Friday March 11, 2011.
