Kiwi stars Howard Bromac (pictured) and Light
And Sound will lock horns again in this Saturday night's $7000 Coprice Geelong
Guineas.
The New Zealand Derby placegetters
engaged in a stirring duel at Moonee Valley a fortnight ago before the gallant
Howard Bromac prevailed.
Both horses head to Beckley Park this weekend to round
off their preparations for the Australasian Breeders Crown semi finals at
Bendigo on 19 August.
Unbeaten in two Victorian appearances, Howard Bromac
has been installed the $2.20 favourite to salute again.
Already into gate five with two early scratchings, the
Kirk Larsen-trained pacer will enjoy a vital head start on Light And Sound
(gate nine) in the 2100 metre feature.
After having his colours lowered as a $1.40 favourite
last start, Light And Sound is a more attractive $3 proposition in the Guineas.
Caretaker trainer-driver Ted Demmler was adamant after
the shock defeat that Light And Sound is a more lethal weapon from behind.
With the fall of the marbles, he gets his chance to be
driven with one sprint at the leaders.
Adding depth to the field is fellow Breeders Crown
finalist Doyawantitagain (gate five, $7), the in-form Martin Herbert-trained
Our Ocnarf (gate six, $21) and SA Derby placegetter Jaccka Lon (gate eight,
$10).
The Coprice Geelong Guineas will be run at 10pm (AET)
on 9 August.
