It might have been a couple of days later than the usual finishing date to the harness racing season, but Sunday's Maryborough meeting at Bendigo brought down the curtain on the 2006/07 season.
As such, the respective drivers' and trainers' premierships have now been confirmed.
Fittingly, Daryl Douglas punched home six winners in two days to emphatically announce himself the statewide drivers' premiership winner for the second year running.
Trebles at Shepparton on Saturday night and again at Bendigo on Sunday took Douglas's Victorian tally to 305 for the season. That was 109 winners more than runner-up Chris Alford.
Alford didn't emerge empty-handed from the 2006/07 season, however, with the Bolinda reinsman taking out the metropolitan drivers' premiership.
Alford's 33 winners gave him a six-win victory over Kerryn Manning and his eighth such title.
Completing the set of drivers' premierships was the concession drivers' title, which went to Nathan Jack.
The Shepparton reinsman drove 95 Victorian winners for the season to edge out Greg Sugars by five winners in what was an enthralling tussle between two of the state's most promising reinsmen.
The state's two trainers' premierships both went the way of Peter Manning, who won his fourth Victorian title and third metro crown.
The master Great Western reinsman prepared a winning double at Terang's Saturday twilight meeting to take his number of Victorian winners for the season to 122.
That was 26 winners more than Melton trainer Lance Justice, who was also forced to play second fiddle to Manning in the metropolitan trainers' premiership.
Manning pipped Justice by one win - 22 winners to 21 - after training a winning treble at the final metropolitan meeting of the season at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
