The Greg and Skye Bond-trained Saying Grace is a popular best bet among members of the WA Trotting Media Guild at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

The West Australian’s Ernie Manning, longshot guru Pat Harding, Guild president Wayne Currall and The West Australian’s racing co-ordinator Ryan Havercroft have all made Saying Grace their best bet on the 10-event card.

Perhaps Manning summed up his colleagues’ thoughts best.

“Saying Grace looks back to the form which enabled him to finish fourth in the Fremantle Pacing Cup last January,” Manning said. “Leading into the Gloucester Park summer carnival, he had impressed with Gloucester Park wins at three consecutive starts. He broke a nine-run losing sequence when winning stylishly last Saturday night and again appears on target for a bright future.”

Racecaller Hayden King is keen on Whoswhointhezoo.

“Whoswhointhezoo has been unlucky of late and I don’t think he’s raced better,” King said. “He gets the perfect opportunity to utilise the perfect gate and will prove hardest to beat.”

TABradio’s Matt Young is a fan of Roman Aviator and believes he’ll get the cash on Friday night.

“Roman Aviator is going very well and the longer trip looks to suit,” Young said.

RWWA’s racing communications co-ordinator Tim Walker has been impressed with Gee Jay Kay’s form of late

“Gee Jay Kay is taking on the older horses here, but I think he’s a real star in the making and can score another win,” Walker said.

GPTV’s Ken Casellas is keen on classy mare Maczaffair.

“The random barrier draw was not kind to Maczaffair, but the brilliant five-year-old mare has the class to overcome the wide draw at No. 8 and win race six on Friday night,” Casellas said. “She is my best bet and I’m confident she will end the longest losing sequence (nine) of her 60-start career.”

VALUE BETS
ERNIE: Three Kings has not won in his past 23 starts, but gate one gives him a solid chance of breaking the drought. A winner of 14 races, he faced a difficult task when unplaced from the back line last weekend.
PAT: My value bet of the night comes up in the last race. In my view this is anyone's race, but I lean towards Chris Voak and Veiled Secret from barrier four. Should be a good each-way bet.
WAYNE: Countess Grace does her best racing from the pegs. She looks like getting a lovely run behind The War Nurse and can score at each-way odds.
RYAN: It’s probably an understatement to say that Im Batman mixes his form. He will be at a long each-way price again this week but he does bob up often enough to warrant consideration.
HAYDEN: Poisedtopounce is badly drawn but I think holds a class edge over his rivals. Will be hard to hold out regardless of his position in the run.
MATT: Whoswhointhezoo has options, is going very well and can get it done from the good draw.
TIM: Veiled Secret has a real chance of finding the front here and if she does, she will be very tough to beat.
KEN: For value, I suggest veteran Our Jimmy Johnstone in race five in which he is favourably drawn at barrier No. 2. He sprinted home superbly to finish a close second to stablemate Vampiro last week.
