The Launceston Pacing Club and the Tasmanian Harness Racing Industry celebrate the passion and commitment of an icon on Sunday at the Luxbet Racing Centre.

Doug Martin was a driving force in Tasmanian Harness Racing for half a century before passing away in 2008.

He worked tirelessly in the late 1960's and early 70's to assist with the state securing the totalisator/TAB with an aim of stamping out the SP bookmakers of the day.

Doug was the foundation Chairman of the Tasmanian Owners, Trainers, Drivers and Breeders Council and a Life Member of the Danbury Park Trotting Club, Launceston Pacing Club and Northern Tasmanian Light Harness Association.

Doug's crowning glory came in 2001 when awarded the inaugural Edgar Tatlow Medal in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Tasmanian harness racing.

The Doug Martin Danbury Park Cup is race four on a bumper 10-event card at the Luxbet Racing Centre.

Fernco Bobby G has won two of its last four starts for trainer-driver and part owner Mark Yole and led Destreos and Devendra to the 200-metre mark in last week's Cannonball Charge, winding up 6.7-metres from the two stars.

The Sutter Hanover - I'm A Star eight-year-old gelding is yet to miss a place from six starts this season and will come off the 20-metre mark in the Cup.

I'm Barney Rubble is the co-backmarker and is looking for its first win since transferring from the stable of Rohan Hillier.

The ten-year-old went on six-run winning streak in August and September including victory over Fernco Bobby G, Destreos and Devendra and will be having its third start since taking up residence at the stables of Rohan Hadley.

The Steve Davis prepared Black Centurian, to be driven by Ricky Duggan, finished midfield on its return to racing from a six-month spell on November 5 when beaten by 5.9-metres by Fernco Bobby G in Launceston.

Another Swinger defeated Destreos and Fernco Bobby G six runs back with slashing run through along the pegs, the Ben Yole runner will join Black Centurian on the behind the 10-metre strand.

The Matthew Dwyer prepared The Majority looks the leading hope off the front line on the strength of its tough first-up performance when a close third to Fernco Bobby G and Rodger Ramjet, beaten a half-head and a short half-head a fortnight ago in Launceston.

The eight-year-old gelding will have the services of leading junior driver Jack Laugher for the 2698-metres
stand-start feature.
