Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) announced today the nominations for the 2017 Harness Horse of the Year.

Precocious 2YO Jack Mac, is amongst a strong field of finalists for Harness Horse of the Year and 2YO Colt and Gelding of the Year.

The son of Mach Three holds a flawless record since arriving from New Zealand, winning all six starts for trainer, Barry Howlett.

After launching his WA career at Bunbury, Jack Mac claimed Group One victories in the Golden Slipper and Pearl Classic.

Chicago Bull and Run Oneover are two Harness Horse of the Year nominees for champion trainer, Gary Hall Snr.

Chicago Bull celebrated a stellar season with 10 wins and five placings from 15 starts for stakes of $674,769.

The high point for the pint-sized pacer came in January, when he became the first horse since Im Themightyquinn to win the Fremantle-WA Pacing Cup double in the same season.

Soho Tribeca did his early racing in Victoria, but has thrived even further under the tutelage of Bunbury trainer, Kim Prentice.

The classy four-year-old underlined his promise when he won the Group One Golden Nugget, before making a triumphant return to Victoria.

Confirming he was a star on the rise, the American Ideal stallion snatched his second Group One success in the Vicbred Super Series final.

The winners of the WA Harness Horse of the Year will be announced at a luncheon at Pan Pacific Perth, on Sunday 17 September.
