Integrity & Probity Requirements

The position of Financial Accountant has high level integrity and probity requirements for which the following conditions apply:

  • A Probity Assessment undertaken through NSW Police.

  • Completion of a Pecuniary Interests Declaration.

  • Completion of a TAB Confidentiality Agreement.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    Duties

  • Preparation of regular and ad hoc financial reports for the Board and senior management

  • Annual Statutory financial accounts

  • Management of revenues from corporate wagering operators

  • Management of the Centralised Stakes System.

  • Budget preparation,

  • Management of the industry insurance program

  • Taxation reporting;

  • Liaison with clubs and other industry participants

  • Assistance with business review programs;

  • Ensure the integrity of all financial systems

  • Other duties as directed

Essential:

Skills

  • Ability to coach, mentor and counsel staff to achieve improved performance.

  • Advanced ability to analyse data and to draw appropriate conclusions.

  • Self motivated and ability to work within tight deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.

  • Commitment to customer service and satisfaction as measured by the deliverables of the overall Commercial Services Business Unit.

  • High level of computer literacy with particular regard to General Ledger systems, MS Office (specifically Excel) and Word (in a LAN environment)

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and adherence to the HRNSW Staff Policy Manual and Code of Conduct.

    Experience

  • Demonstrated experience and aptitude for Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Systems Accounting.

  • At least three (3) years experience in managing staff, inclusive of goal setting and review of performance against objectives.

    Qualifications & Licenses

  • CA/CPA or equivalent qualifications

  • Member of a professional body.

    Desirable:

  • Appropriate post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded.

  • Knowledge of/experience in not for profit sector.

    Additional:

    Some out of usual business hours and on call work may be required including attendance at race meetings, social functions, speaking engagements representing HRNSW.
