THE industry was saddened to hear of the passing of former owner Donald McKechnie.
Donald passed away last Friday, aged 89.
He raced horses over the years with well-respected horsemen such as Alf Phillis, Lawrie Moulds, Kevin Newman, Jimmy Castles, Clarrie Sweeny and his grandson Shane Tritton.
With a family involvement in harness racing, his children and grandchildren, including Harness Racing New South Wales Steward Grant Adams, have continued the family’s legacy in the sport.
A funeral service for Donald will be held at Pinegrove Memorial Park on Wednesday May 31 at 2pm.
Harness Racing NSW extends its deepest sympathies to Donald’s family and friends.
Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) is the controlling body for harness racing in New South Wales with responsibility for commercial and regulatory management of the industry including 33 racing clubs across the State. HRNSW is headed by a Board of Directors and is independent of Government.
