WITH her famous sister recently retired, now is the time for exceptionally-bred youngster Molly Kelly to shine.

By top stallion Four Starzzz Shark, the two-year-old is from Jackie Kelly, which was a talented performer only to have her career cut short by injury.

Jackie Kelly won three of her four starts before being sent to the breeding barn, where she has produced Frith.

Needing no introduction as one of the best mares in recent times, Frith was retired due to injury last month.

Jackie Kelly’s siblings include Group One winners Albert Kelly, Mcraes Mate and Greg Kelly – the latter’s wins include the 2007 Australian Pacing Gold Final, a series Molly Kelly will contest at Tabcorp Park Melton tonight.

Making a successful debut at Wagga three weeks ago, Molly Kelly has since been transferred to record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart, who is impressed with the filly.

“She is a very nice type,” Stewart said. “She’s lovely to do anything with and has been working terrifically. She certainly has the potential to live up to her breeding.”

Although Molly Kelly is the sole runner along the second row, Stewart is confident she can overcome the obstacle.

“No one likes to draw the back line, but she’s the only one there, which means she will have plenty of room to come off the pegs if needed,” Stewart said. “There a few handy types in the field, plus a couple of unknown factors, so we’ll just have to see how it all unfolds.”

With four Ladbrokes APG qualifiers on the card, Stewart will also be represented by Typhoon Tilly, Nostra Beach and Pistol Abbey.

“They all go well enough to win under the right circumstances,” Stewart said. “It will come down to which gets the right run.”
