The Caduceus Club will recognise and applaud female participants in the trots with a dinner on May 23 at the Moonee Valley Racing Club.

Commencing at 6.30pm, the dinner will feature keynote speaker Susan Alberti, one of the driving forces behind the recently launched Australian Women's Football League and a noted philanthropist.

“The keynote speaker for the evening will be Susan Alberti AC, who is one of Australia’s preeminent philanthropists, having donated millions of dollars to medical research and other charitable causes over her successful business career," Caduceus Club President Emmy Mazzetti said.

"Most recently Susan has been the driving force behind the establishment and success of the AFLW competition and I am sure she will have some great take-home messages for everyone who attends."

Mazzetti said other speakers would include world champion driver Kerryn Manning, one of Victoria's leading trainers, Maree Caldow, and Harness Racing Victoria Debuty Chair Elizabeth Clarke.

"Harness racing has known for a long time how crucial female participants have been in our industry, whether it is trainers, drivers, breeders or administrators, women have been at the forefront of success and leaders in their chosen fields," Mr Mazzetti said.

The Caduceus Club was formed in 1984 by a group of trots enthusiasts to promote their passion for the sport. Luncheon meetings are held each month and the club has had a vast range of speakers over the years, including Sir Charles Court, Lionel Bowen, David Lange, Sir Hubert Oppertman, Leigh Matthews, Richard Pratt and Allan Jeans.

The club also hosts the A.G. Hunter Cup barrier draw dinner annually and has raised many thousands of dollars for various charities along the journey.
