The good news keeps coming for Burwood Stud.

The famed nursery on the Darling Downs of Queensland at Pittsworth has enjoyed much needed rain in recent weeks coupled with a bunch of outstanding results for their stallions.

Leading the way is the hugely underrated Cammibest; the Cambest stallion has enjoyed great success in recent times through his ultra-talented son Leos Best who has won his past six starts including his past three at Menangle in Sydney.

Two starts ago, Leos Best paced a career best time of 1:50.7 and thus become the fastest performer for Cammibest.

Leos Best starts again this Friday at Menangle where he is searching for his 9th victory from his past 10 starts.

Last Friday at Albion Park, Cammibest produced a trifecta result when Artful Maid proved too good for Lucifers Legend and Best Beau in a time of 1:58.1 for the SKY Racing 3yo Pace.

And now former star pacer Lanercost is officially on the board as a winning sire following the all the way victory of his son Mighty Montana at Albion Park today (Tuesday) in a time of 1:59.5.

Fittingly, Mighty Montana is prepared by Darrel Graham – the former trainer/driver of Lanercost and also raced by Dean Shannon who owns the Courage Under Fire stallion.

Shannon bred Mighty Montana from his mare Precious Montana, a daughter of Bettors Delight.

Mighty Montana is the first foal to race for Lanercost so his career has started in the best possible manner.

Naturally, Burwood Stud Manager Noel Denning is thrilled.

“We’re tremendously proud of both stallions; Cammie just keeps doing the job like he does each and every year while the victory of Mighty Montana was very exciting. I’ve been extremely impressed with the quality of foal that he’s thrown and he’s off to a flyer, he was such a great racehorse and now he’s proving he’s a quality stallion,” he said.

“It’s an extremely busy time at the stud with the sales just around the corner and these recent results have put an extra spring in our step. I hope potential buyers notice that these stallions can produce neat racehorses that deliver excellent results.”

The Ladbrokes Australian Pacing Gold Yearling Sale takes place in Brisbane this Sunday while the Garrards Redcliffe Yearling Sale is scheduled for April 9.
