Ladbrokes APG purchase sets national record

26 February 2017 | PAUL COURTS

LESS than a month after delivering a national yearling sale record, Australian Pacing Gold has done it again.

During the recent Ladbrokes APG Melbourne sale, Emilio and Maria Stride Pty Ltd parted with a whopping $200,000 for a colt, which entered the ring as Lot 100.

By siring sensation Art Major, the youngster is from former handy performer Cyclone Betty, which just happens to be the dam of Our Waikiki Beach! Our Waikiki Beach is by Somebeachsomewhere.

As for today’s sales topper, Tasmanian owner Mick Maxfield stopped the hammer at $245,000 for a colt currently known as Lot 368.

Maxfield had astute horseman Darren Hancock inspect the well-bred juvenile before electing to enter a spirited bidding war.

By Bettors Delight, the Aussie record holding youngster is the second foal from Lady Euthenia, which captured five Group Ones in a stellar career.

Lady Euthenia is from feature winner Reggae Miss, which boasts a perfect record from six racing foals.

Emilio and Maria Stride were the under bidders.
