The bubbly and fun will flow at Charlton this Sunday when the Trots Country Cups Championship comes to town.

With a focus on hosting families and all fun-lovers, in addition to trots fans, anticipation is high ahead of the Charlton and District Community Bank 2017 Charlton Pacing Cup.

“It’s our one day of the year to showcase what we do,” club president John Tormey said.

“We are only a small committee but we do a lot. It’s always focused on being a fun family day, but we are also looking to engage young people.”

The latter is headlined by the club’s attempt to “fill the lawn with ladies” through its Bubbles In The Bush initiative, a fundraiser for the Women’s Cancer Foundation. All women are invited to attend the event, which has free admission with all bar and raffle proceeds going to a great cause.

“The Bubbles In The Bush has had 90 acceptances and so we should get a few more younger ladies on track earlier,” Mr Tormey said. “That’s what it’s all about, exposing people to the sport who may not have enjoyed it before.”

Kerryn Manning will be the guest speaker and the occasion will see some great prizes handed over, including a seaside holiday courtesy of Charlton’s House To Home. Many will likely be seen later in the fashions on the field, which will gift Myer vouches to the winners courtesy of the VHRSC.

The on-course attractions will continue throughout the day, with the Sulky Bar and prizes including an Escape Travel Holiday, betting vouchers and a punters’ club, Bertocchi packs and a $500 draw.

Kids can go in the running to win a Huffy Green Machine or join the many to have been captivated by Trots Interactive, the virtual reality experience that puts you in the drivers’ seat.

Great racing, Live music, booked out marquees, ample chairs and umbrellas and a perfect summer's day ensure something for everyone.

“We always get a really good crowd of locals. The marquees are fully booked and it will only be 30 degrees, which is a blessing,” Mr Tormey said.
