Kotare Roland after winning the Boort Pacing Cup last season for reinsman Neil McCallum.

Barrier one has given Kotare Roland a winning chance on Sunday in the Wimmera Mail-Times Horsham Pacing Cup, says trainer Roly Wilson.

The Yarra Glen horseman told RSN’s Nadia Horne on the Inside Word today “we had to draw one or eight to be a chance”.

Kotare Roland won both the Cobram and Boort Cups last season, starting at over 100-1 on the Victorian tote at Cobram.

In recent starts the consistent eight-year-old has finished second beaten just over a metre in the Geelong Cup and third in his bid at back-to-back Cobram Cups.

“He’s done more than we thought he was going to do when we first got him. He’s been great to have,” Wilson said.

Kotare Roland is entered for the upcoming Victorian Summer of Glory feature races; Wilson saying Sunday’s outing would provide a guide as to where the son of Julius Caesar goes next.
