The Starlight Children?s
Foundation will benefit to the tune of $650 following a promotion undertaken by
Cranbourne Harness Racing Club last Sunday.
The Club enlisted the support of
three leading drivers for the promotion. Each donated 50% of their driving
fees, and half their winning percentages on the day.
In addition, top freelance
reinsman John Caldow ? who originally agreed to be a part of the promotion but
did not drive at the Cranbourne meeting ? has provided a $100 donation.
?Unfortunately the weather on the
day was pretty miserable,? Cranbourne Harness Racing Club Chief Executive
Michael Hodge said.
?Nonetheless, we are pleased to
be able to provide a significant donation to the Starlight Children?s
Foundation,? he said.
?We were delighted that the three
participating drivers ? Chris Alford, Craig Demmler and Jodi Quinlan ? each
enjoyed success on the day, which bolstered the fundraising initiative.?
Quinlan notched one win, one
second and a fourth on the day while Alford drove one winner. Demmler recorded
a second, third and fourth placing from his five drives.
Cranbourne?s contribution will be
added to Harness Racing Victoria?s Starlight Sundays tally.
Every twilight race meeting
conducted in Victoria during the 2002/03 season is staged under the Starlight
Sundays banner and supports the outstanding work of the Starlight Children?s
Foundation.
