Mildura Harness Racing Club secretary/manager Mark Kemp has advised the club's committee that he intends to resign with effect December 1 this year.

Mr Kemp has held the role at Mildura since 2000 and when he departs it will bring to an end a 22-year association with the club.

Before being appointed to the manager's position Mr Kemp served on the club committee for six years and spent four years as president.

Kemp was honoured with the prestigious Frank Ryan Memorial Secretary of the Year award at Victorian trots' industry awards on three occasions, in 2005-06, 2009-10, 2010-11, helped lead the Mildura club to Country Club of the Year success in 2005-06, and oversaw the club receiving Best Country Cup award in 2002-03 and 2007-08.

“I have enjoyed all of the 22 years with the club. I thank the committee, both past and present, for the enormous trust they have placed in me and the support they have given me," Mr Kemp said.

“I have always seen it as a privilege and an honour to represent the club at the many forums I have attended over the years. Until December it will be business as usual."

HRV General Manager of Operations Vaughn Lynch wished Mr Kemp well in his future endeavours and thanked the outgoing secretary/manager for his service to the industry.

“HRV acknowledges Mark’s dedication to the trots in the Mildura area over a prolonged period of time and thanks him for his service,” Mr Lynch said.

“We wish Mark all the best for the future and look forward to him still being involved as a supporter.”

Mark and his wife, Julie, will relocate to Melbourne to be closer family, and will seek employment at the new location.

The Mildura club will shortly embark on a rigorous search for a new manager.
