Get trackside this Redwood Carnival (Sunday August 7) via the Redwood Rattler, a “trots express” to Maryborough for the historical all-trotting meeting.

Get your caboose aboard and ride the rail as the train, bound for one of the most exciting meetings on the Victorian calendar, steams off.

Departing Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station at 8.25am, the Rattler rolls into Melton at 9.02am, followed by stops at Bacchus Marsh (9.16am) and Ballarat (10.15am) to take travellers to the famous Carisbrook Raceway.

The trip promises to be a social affair with an on-board café and a lounge car featuring a bar.

Passengers are also welcome to bring their own food on board the train.

On the track the day’s feature races are the Seelite Windows and Doors Redwood Classic (Group 1), a time-honoured standing-start trot for two-year-olds, and the $75,575 Seelite Windows and Doors Victoria Trotters Derby (Group 1) for three-year-olds.

The train departs Maryborough at 6.25pm following a big day’s racing.

All passengers receive a ticket to the Redwood Punters Club, run by the “Carroll brothers”, who will be more than happy to impart some tips as the train keeps a rolling.

The Redwood Rattler was made possible with the support of the Daniel Andrews State Government through Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attaraction Program.

All aboard!
