The Club’s first meeting for the season to be held at Globe Derby Park on the 16th April will see another new sponsor for the Club in Lakeside Nissan. The lucrative sponsorship package will see the Cup raised and will now be South Australia’s richest claiming race.  Stake money of $8500 plus rug and Trophy thanks to input from HRSA on a dollar for dollar subsidy.

The Strathalbyn Koch Trotters Cup will also have elevated stake money to $8000, with rug and trophy associated with the historic cup. Koch Fertiliser is also another new sponsor to harness racing in S.A. They have supplied rugs for both meetings to be held at Globe Derby Park.

Other new sponsors are Davison Earthmovers, Clay & Mineral Sales, Kookaburra Homes, Northpoint Toyota, Rightway Automotive and Modbury Battery Service as well as old sponsor Hopkins Saddlery. All have contributed towards making the night a real extravaganza.

There will be a sushi display and indian food from Globe Derby’s Restaurant in-house chef adding to the multicultural night.

There will be a face painter and a bouncing castle for the kids as well as FREE entry which will make the night very affordable for families. Music courtesy of Party Cats led by former lead guitarist of the legendary Masters Apprentice, Peter Tilbrook. Leading Bookmaker Peter Damerall makes a return to the track giving away twenty $10.00 vouchers to some lucky punters.

The trainers have also not been forgotten with a special show bag given to each trainer upon entry to the course. Modbury Battery Service, Northpoint Toyota, Hopkins Saddlery, Lakeside Nissan, Eco Safe Car Cleaning, Horseshoes R Us, Mawson Tyre Power and BOTRA have all have given discount vouchers or contributed in some form.

Chapel Lodge will have a display/stall on course with available retired horses for sale as well as specially painted horse shoes. Strathalbyn Harness is proud to be involved with Chapel Lodge and the re-homing of our race horses.

The Club has focused once again on the industry participants and with great help from Mario Borg of Modbury Battery Services and Doug Webber in securing sponsorship, highlights what valuable assets people from within our industry are. Acknowledgement to Globe Derby’s Jen Andrews for all the great assistance in helping put the night together. When clubs work together, especially country and metropolitan, the sky is the limit to what can be achieved.
