Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) Stewards commenced an Inquiry on Wednesday 9 March 2016 into the conduct of licensed Trainer Ms Tahn Camilleri and Licensed Stablehand Mr Stuart Hunter in relation to the registered standardbred WELL TO DO LOMBO, a horse trained by Ms Camilleri that was engaged to race in race 6, the WALLA WALLA STAKES (2760 metres) at Goulburn on Sunday 6 March 2016.
An investigation was commenced on 6 March 2016 after HRNSW Investigator, Mr Chris Paul, located equipment utilised for the purpose of stomach tubing a horse and other evidence outside the stable of WELL TO DO LOMBO, a short time after he observed Ms Camilleri and Mr Hunter leaving that stable.
Evidence was presented to the Inquiry on 9 March 2016 by Ms Camilleri, Mr Hunter, HRNSW Investigator Chris Paul and HRNSW Regulatory Veterinarian Dr Don Colantonio.
Evidence including results of elevated TCO2 levels was also presented to the Inquiry in relation to WELL TO DO LOMBO (36.2 mmol/L) from Goulburn on Sunday 6 March 2016 and another horse trained by Ms Camilleri, MODERN CHIC (35.1 mmol/L) from Tabcorp Park Menangle on Friday 4 March 2016.
Stewards issued the following charges against Ms Camilleri:
Charge 1: Pursuant to Rule 193(1) which reads:
A person shall not attempt to stomach tube or stomach tube a horse nominated for a race or event within 48 hours of the commencement of the race or event.
Charge 2: Pursuant to Rule 193(7) which reads:
A person shall not allow or permit another person to attempt to perform or perform any of the actions prohibited by sub-rules (1), (2) and (3).
Charge 3: Pursuant to Rule 240 which reads:
A person shall not, whether alone or in association with others, do, permit or suffer anything before, during or after a race which in the opinion of the stewards or Controlling Body may cause someone to be unlawfully advantaged or disadvantaged or be penalised or is corrupt or otherwise improper.

The inquiry was adjourned until 11am on Monday 4 April 2016 following an application by Ms Camilleri and Mr Hunter.
