Who are we?
Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) is responsible for the control, development and promotion of the harness racing industry in Victoria. We run around 450 race meetings per year at 26 tracks throughout Victoria. Victorian harness racing is an important contributor to the Victorian economy generating $422m yearly and employing just under 4000 (full time equivalent) people across the state.
The Job
This is a rare opportunity to secure a full time position working in harness racing. In this position as Metropolitan Racing Co-Ordinator you will have responsibility for assisting the Metropolitan Racing Manager to conduct trial and race meetings at Tabcorp Park, located in Melton, and Geelong Harness Racing Club.
This role will play a vital part to ensure the professional delivery of all race meetings and trials conducted at Tabcorp Park and Geelong, and provide exceptional customer service to all licensed participants and registered persons.
You will be based in Flemington however you will be required to travel to Tabcorp Park and Geelong harness racing events; so a reliable motor vehicle and driver’s license is essential. Given the nature of the racing industry there is a requirement to work outside of normal hours and on weekends so flexibility is required in this regard.
What you will need
You will have a strong interest in racing and a desire to make a positive contribution to the harness racing industry. You will have:
- Previous relevant experience and knowledge of the racing industry
- Ability to take a consistent and high-energy approach to your work using your well-developed skills in problem solving, administration and communication
- Excellent computer literacy skills (Microsoft office and Adobe Design Suite)
- Strong customer focus
- Excellent attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and take direction
