The opportunity

We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates to join our organisation in the position of full time Stipendiary Steward-Harness.  Based in Ascot, this position forms part of the Harness Branch of the Racing Integrity Division. Reporting to the Chief Steward-Harness, this position maintains and upholds fair Harness Racing in Western Australia and supervises and enforces the industry’s probity and integrity as empowered by the Australian Rules of Racing. The successful candidate will be required to work weekends, after hours and public holidays.

About you

  • Extensive experience in racing, administration and the rules of racing
  • Knowledge of current legislation, e.g. Rules of Racing, Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal Act and Betting Control Act
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of horses
  • Well developed knowledge of procedural fairness and natural justice
  • Sound communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Sound computer literacy skills- Microsoft Office / Windows Environment
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers license
  • Progressing towards legal studies would be an advantage
