Champion reinsman Chris Alford has been selected to represent Australia at the 2015 World Drivers’ Championships in New South Wales.

Alford won the Victorian drivers’ premiership in 2013-14 with 291 wins – falling nine shy of the magical 300 mark despite missing about six weeks with a broken collarbone. He drove 298 winners overall in 2013-14 across Australia to also be crowned national premiership winner.

“It’s a big thrill to be able to compete against the best drivers in the world,” an elated Alford said.

“Last season was a very good season. I drove some really good horses and I don’t think it could have gone much better really.”

Alford, 46, has driven over 5300 winners in an illustrious career spanning some 20 years.

This will be his second time representing Australia after donning the green and gold in the 1997 world titles.
