Courage Under Fire...sire of Lot 35 in the annual Garrards 2YO Trialling Sale at Tabcorp Park, Menangle, on Sunday, December 7.

Border-hopping Victorian trainer Leigh Miles heads to Sydney on Sunday, December 7, with just one representative in the annual Garrards 2YO Trialling Sale but what a 'one' it is!

Miles, from Romsey,  has already had the Courage Under Fire gelding to the unofficial trials at Tabcorp Park, Melton, and was delighted with the display on November 17.

"It was his first time away from home and even behind a mobile - I don't even have a jogger," Miles said. "A couple of people called me after the trial and asked if he was for sale, but I told them to get to Menangle...he's eligible for the Australasian Breeders' Crown, as well as being Vicbred."

The gelding, Lot 35 in the sale, wears no boots, dolly varden winkers and a loose figure 8 noseband. He is out of the three-time winning mare, Braeview Babe (2:00.2), a half-sister to 1:59 three-year-old, Braeview Creation, as well as the 1:58 three-year-old, Lils Dream.

After settling third in the trial, he made good ground to finish second to the C1 four-year-old, The Gingerbreadman, who has notched four wins and six placings from 13 starts.

The Courage Under Fire gelding, offered by Sal Ferraro, without GST, is quiet, easy to do anything with and can either lead or lead off him in an open bridle.

Experienced Melbourne trackman Danny Revell, who has been clocking for more than 40 years, timed the colt to run his last mile in 2:02.9, half in 57.8s and quarter in 28.6s.

"He's big for a Courage Under Fire, but he's all class," Revell said. "He's going to make a racehorse, you can tell that just by the way he holds himself and the way he goes."

For the first time, trotters will be offered as well as pacers in the 51-head sale, which starts with individual trials at 8.30am, with the auction to follow. A complimentary breakfast will be served at 7.30am.

Pedigrees are available at www.nswhrc.com.au/trialling sale. Catalogue requests can be made to triallingsale@bigpond.com, while any queries may be directed to Sale Co-Oerdinator, John Coffey on 0468 994 087.

The auction features the progeny of many of the world's leading sires, including Australasia's champion sire, Bettors Delight, American Ideal, Mach Three, Rocknroll Hanover, Rock N Roll Heaven and other notables.

Graduates, whose eligibilities include features such as Australian Pacing Gold, Australasian Breeders' Crown, Bathurst Gold Crown, Leeton Breeders Plate and various Statebred schemes, are also the only horses eligible to nominate for the 2015 C.J. Garrard 2YO Classic, a Group Three feature, at Tabcorp Park, Menangle.

Many of these well-bred colts, geldings and fillies are ready to go to the races - all the hard work has been done for you!
