Trainers Shane Tritton and James Rattray were left with the biggest grins when the barrier draw for next weekend’s SEW Eurodrive Miracle Mile was held at Tabcorp Park Menangle today.

While Beautide was assured of favouritism after the defending Miracle Mile champion drew gate three, his reinsman James Rattray knows he will land a perfect run behind some noted speedsters.

Tritton, who will be represented by Easy On The Eye and Suave Stuey Lombo, was also left excited about his prospects after the draw was completed.

“We’ll be leading the Miracle Mile, that’s one thing for sure – and it could be either one of them,” Tritton grinned shortly after the draw for the $750,000 feature.

Tritton has given the coveted drive on his “second stringer” Easy On The Eye to the in-form David Morris, while the state’s form driver Lauren Panella will handle Saturday night’s Cordina Chicken Farms Sprint winner Suave Stuey Lombo.

Tritton said he had no plans to switch drivers following the draw.

“None of those can cross my horse from the one, he has lightning speed,” Tritton said.

“Bring on the big race – we can’t wait now.”

New Zealand visitors had mixed luck with Christen Me drawn in four and certain to be well-fancied while three-time New Zealand Cup winner Terror To Love has again landed the horror visitors’ draw after being left with gate 10, giving champion reinsman Ricky May little choice but to drive for luck in a race where the winner traditionally comes from the inside five barriers.

The full draw is:

  • Easy On The Eye
  • Avonnova
  • Beautide
  • Christen Me
  • For A Reason
  • Chariot King (2nd em)
  • Guaranteed
  • Suave Stuey Lombo
  • Bettor Bet Black (1st em)
  • Terror To Love
