Jimmy Robinson winning aboard Toughkenamon at Harold Park
The harness racing community was saddened to learn of the passing of one of nature’s gentleman in James “Jimmy” Robinson last week.
Robinson had been involved in harness racing for most of his life and had recently assisted the John Tapp stable.
“Jim was always around if I needed a hand, even at short notice,” said Tapp.
“He was a delight to be around and will be sadly missed.”
Robinson’s biggest success came when he trained and drove Toughkenamon to win the 1981 Australia Day Cup at Harold Park defeating horses such as Frosty Imp and Friendly Footman. In more recent times he tasted success in the 2009 Newcastle Oaks with True Soncerre.
The funeral for Jimmy Robinson will take place tomorrow (Friday) at Pinegrove Memorial Park, Eastern Creek, NSW at 10am.
The Board, Management and Staff of Harness Racing NSW sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jimmy Robinson.
