Im Corzin Terror coasts to the line in first place on Sunday at Maryborough with Chris Alford in the cart.
Trainer Amanda Grieve was thrilled with the win of Im Corzin Terror in Sunday’s Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Gold Cup.
Grieve says she is enjoying the form of her stable and is excited about the summer ahead, especially after Sunday’s success – which was Im Corzin Terror’s second straight Maryborough Cup triumph.
“He went really good at Kilmore in the cup to get so close to Guaranteed and he’d pulled up pretty good on Monday. He was a wee bit tired, but that was to be expected, and he was well during the week so we went into Maryborough confident,” the 27-year-old horsewoman said.
“Chris (Alford) said he can be a bit funny when other horses are around him off the stand start, so being off 20 metres on his own ended up being perfect.”
Grieve said the Cranbourne and Ballarat Cups would be the target races for Im Corzin Terror before a crack at the Victoria and Hunter Cups early next year.
Last year Im Corzin Terror ran ninth in the Hunter Cup after making an early break, only beaten 12.8 metres by Christen Me.
“He was running on down the outside. We’re excited about getting him back there,” Grieve said.
The seven-year-old Western Terror/Corzanello gelding has now won 17 races from 58 starts for prize money of $239,207.
Im Corzin Terror won by 5.9 metres over Hilltop Hustler (Michael Stanley) on Sunday in a mile rate of 2:01.0, with old-timer Jaccka Clive showing a return to form at big odds to finish third for the David and Josh Aiken combination.
Meanwhile, Grieve said Tandias Bromac had pulled up well after her second placing in Friday night’s Tailamade Lombo.
“She’s going super,” the trainer said.
“She’ll line up in the Smoken Up sprint on Friday night.”
