Prizemoney
The HRSA Board have approved total prizemoney allocation for the 2014/15 financial year of $4.87 million, which is an increase of $240,000 on the previous year ($4.62m). The moving of the Southern Cross Finals to the next financial year has been the primary reason for the increase. Importantly, with the strong rebound in our market share, this had enabled the Board to ensure that prizemoney remains a very strong focus for the code moving forward.
HRSA’s ongoing commitment to maximise prizemoney has been reinforced by the Board adopting a policy that prizemoney as a percentage of TAB revenue must be in the range of 80% - 85%. The prizemoney allocation for the 2014/15 financial year has prizemoney at the highest level of 85% of TAB revenue.
This once again reinforces that harness racing has the highest percentage return of all racing codes in South Australia.
Race Meetings Allocation
HRSA have also approved 175 race meetings in the 2014/15 financial year. This is the minimum number of race meetings we are required to conduct as part of our formal agreement with the TAB.
Racing will be held at seven venues across South Australia as follows: Globe Derby Park (including Gawler Cup) – 122 race meetings; Pt Pirie (including Kadina Cup) – 29 race meetings; Mt Gambier – 13 race meetings; Kapunda – 4 race meetings; Victor Harbor – 3 race meetings; Strathalbyn – 2 race meetings; and Whyalla – 2 race meetings.
