The stocks of nominal Vicbred Super Series favourite The Sentry dipped sharply last night at Moonee Valley after he suffered a shock loss in the second semi final.

?

Beaten into third place as a $1.40 favourite, the bad news continued for connections of the champion three-year-old pacer when he then drew awkwardly in next Thursday night?s $100,000 final at the Valley.

?

The three-time Derby winner will have to overcome an inside second line draw to post his fifth Group 1 victory and break trainer Grant Crane?s Vicbred hoodoo.

Crane sent out former stable star Manifold Bay an odds-on favourite in three Vicbred Super Series Finals for two harrowing half-head seconds. The Sentry was expected to make it fourth time lucky 12 months ago when an odds-on favourite for the two-year-old final before his shock scratching on the morning of the race.

Reigning Vicbred champion Blatant Lie and the impeccably-bred Penny Veejay used their blistering gate speed to carry them to victory in last night?s semi finals.

Tasmanian raider Village Driller, an eye-catching second to Blatant Lie after working hard throughout, emerged as a serious force after drawing favourably in gate three.

The field for the $100,000 Bolinda Publishing Vicbred Super Series 3YO Colts & Geldings Final (Group 1), to be run over 2090 metres at Moonee Valley next Thursday night, 3 July, is;
