Graham Head and Colin Varcoe don't own a horse in
Saturday night's $300,000 Australian Pacing Gold 2YO Fillies Final (1660m) at
Albion Park (QLD) yet they stand to win big!
?
How you ask? As the breeders of Chilled Sanction and
Gracie Wilkes respectively they'll snap up a $15,000 Vicbred Breeders Bonus if
their filly is victorious.
?
Commencing with this season's crop of juveniles, a
Vicbred Breeder Bonus will be paid to the breeder of an eligible Vicbred horse
that wins any 2YO, 3YO or 4YO race in Victoria and any 2YO, 3YO or 4YO group
race in Australia.
?
The Vicbred Breeders Bonus is 5% of the total race
stake, but importantly for connections it's paid over and above that figure by
HRV.
?
In all, four Vicbreds will be eligible for the bonus in
Saturday night's feature. They are Chilled Sanction, Gracie Wilkes, Starry
Rainbow and Vaucluse Hanover.
?
Chilled Sanction, a daughter of Chill Factor and
Reneassis Oil, was sold by Head to Alfred Pearson at the Melbourne APG sales.
She's now trained by Alan Tubbs and will be driven from gate four by his star
daughter Amy.
?
Gracie Wilks, a daughter of Christian Cullen and Irish
Town, was sold by Varcoe at the Sydney APG Sales to a syndicate headed up by
her trainer Doug Leihn. Ace reinsman Greg Bennett will take the drive from gate
nine, inside the second row.
?
Starry Rainbow, an undefeated daughter of Fake Left
and Hike Along, was bought back at the sales by breeder John Markham. He now
leases the Jayne Davies-trained pacer to a group of Muswellbrook owners. Chris
Alford will take the reins on the leading contender from gate two.
?
Vaucluse Hanover is raced by her breeders Charlie
Furina, Beau Watson and Murray Cole. Furina pots the polish on the daughter of
Fake Left and Valance Hanover who will start from gate six with junior reinsman
Joel Pengilly in the sulky.
?
The $300,000 Australian
Pacing Gold 2YO Fillies Final will be run at 8.40pm (EST) at Albion Park on
Saturday.
