Bling It On is all set to shine on Saturday night for the Breeders Crown semi final's.
Despite a shock defeat at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night, popular owner Harvey Kaplan is confident that his two year old Bling It On can still win the Breeders Crown and is looking forward to this weekend’s semi finals. Bling It On was forced to sit outside the leader last start and was narrowly defeated by the Shane Tritton trained Yayas Hot Spot.
“It came as a bit of a shock and I was a little disappointed when he finished second last weekend because of the high expectations associated with him but in hindsight I guess he was a little vulnerable because of his big fortnight coming up,” Kaplan said.
“Bling It On was a little big in condition and that is understandable because he will be travelling this week to Victoria for the semi finals and is obviously going to lose a little bit of weight on the trip down so I’m expecting a much sharper performance this week and an even bigger run in the final.”
Kaplan will be making the trip to Ballarat on Saturday night to watch one of his favourite horses race and will have some special company for the trip.
“It’s a bit of a daddy daughter date weekend coming up, I’m taking my youngest daughter Ashleigh who is eight, to Ballarat with me and then if Bling It On makes the final we will head to Melton on Sunday for the barrier draw function so I’m really looking forward to the weekend.”
“The McCarthy stable has an enormous opinion of him, he has unbelievable speed and he was clocked to run his last 800 metres in 53.7 two starts ago and I don’t think too many horses have run those types of sectionals on the track.”
Kaplan also confirmed that Baby Bling will soon return to work in preparation for her Miracle Mile crown defence.
“She’s had a good spell and she is due back pretty soon, the main aim will be defending her Miracle Mile but early on there is a fair chance that she will be competing in the Queensland Pacing Championships as well.”
