Below are the HRNSW conditions for the Monte race to be conducted at Bankstown Harness Racing Club on Saturday 1 December 2012.

HRNSW MONTE RACES
Conditions
1. All riders, competing in Monte races, must be licensed by NSW or another approved Controlling Body and hold an A, B or C Grade Drivers licence
2. All riders must have completed in at least one (1) Monte trial or track work-out to the satisfaction of the Stewards or have ridden in Monte races conducted by an approved Controlling Body.
3. All competing horses must have completed at least one (1) trial or track work-out to the satisfaction of the Stewards or competed in a Monte race conducted by an approved Controlling Body.
4. All riders must declare a minimum riding weight upon acceptances. This will be a declared weight, inclusive of saddle, in which the rider must weigh out at or above
5. Whips are permitted.
6. Only padded whips are permitted and must be in a satisfactory condition and not modified in any manner. All whips must be approved by the Stewards.
7. Riders must keep both hands on the reins and use the whip in a slapping motion only.
8. Spurs are prohibited
9. Only exercise saddles are permitted and must be approved by the Stewards.
10. Riders must wear thoroughly clean and appropriate dress
11. Riders must wear approved riding boots, dark or tan in colour
12. All riders must wear HRA approved body protectors
13. All riders must wear a helmet which has been approved and entered in the Register of helmets approved by HRA
14. The Stewards may direct any rider to lengthen their irons
15. Riders shall remain mounted upon their respective horse from the time it enters the track until leaving the track.
16. HRNSW reserves the right to change any of these conditions.
For the purpose of conducting races under saddle (Monte Races), all references to “DRIVER” under the HRNSW Rules of Racing will also relate to a “RIDER” in Monte races.
Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) is the controlling body for harness racing in New South Wales with responsibility for commercial and regulatory management of the industry including 31 racing clubs across the State.
