A huge crowd turned out at Newcastle last Saturday night with fine weather exciting racing and a raft of close finishes making for a fantastic NSW Breeders Challenge regional finals night. Runners came from all corners of NSW to contest the six $20,000 final on offer and the spoils were shared around the regions. The winners came for Sydney, Maitland, Goulburn and the South Coast. The biggest winning margin on the night was 3.5 metres.

The regional finals the results were:
• Three year old fillies final. Oh Eye See trained by Paul Fitzpatrick driven by Gavin Fitzpatrick, winning margin 3.2 metres
• Four year old Mares final. Rollon Gidget for trainer, driver Peter Sellers, winning margin a head with 3rd place only a neck back.
• Three year old Colts & Geldings final. Magic Bliss for trainer, driver Neil Day, winning margin Half neck with 3rd only 1.3 metres back
• Four year old entires & geldings. Ambush Prince for trainer Dean McDowell, driven by David Morris, winning margin a head with 3rd place a further head away
• Two year old fillies final. Shezlika for trainer, driver Darren Elder, winning margin 3.5 metres.
• Two year old Colts & Geldings final. Dream Cartier for trainer Peter Rixon, driven by Cindy Rixon winning margin a head with 3rd place a head away.

To top the night off the last race finished in a dead heat between Private Road and Marble Halls.
