The Board of Harness Racing NSW has resolved the prizemoney tiers or base funding for FY13 (commencing 1 July 2012).
Tier 1 Meetings – 8 Races @ $6,000
Tier 2 Meetings – 8 Races @ $5,000
Tier 3 Meetings – 8 Races @ $3,000 (Restricted)
Metropolitan prizemoney levels are determined by the NSWHRC.
HRNSW Chief Executive Sam Nati said: “The meeting tier approach has been in place for almost two years. Based on certain feedback we did consider reverting to a split system at Tier 2 and Tier 3 meetings; however after the recent Industry Road Shows it was clear that the case to do so was simply not supported to a compelling level.”
“Additionally, it was obvious at those forums that prizemoney is the single most important issue and the roadmap for future growth in stakes will be outlined in the new HRNSW Strategic Plan which is expected to be released later this year.”
Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) is the controlling body for harness racing in New South Wales with responsibility for commercial and regulatory management of the industry including 31 racing clubs across the State. HRNSW is headed by an industry-appointed Board of Directors and is independent of Government.
