Harness Racing NSW today continued the inquiry into a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that boldenone, at a level greater than 15 micrograms per litre in urine, had been detected in a post race urine sample taken from MACH WIPER following its win in the NXFM Newcastle Cup (2550metres) run at Newcastle on 9 December 2011.
This finding has been confirmed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Laboratory.
Permission was granted for Mr G Harris, Lawyer, to represent Mr McCarthy.
Further evidence was taken from Trainer Mr Luke McCarthy, part owner of MACH WIPER Mrs Belinda McCarthy, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Simon Robinson, ARFL Science Manager Dr Adam Cawley and Hong Kong Laboratory Manager Mr Terry Wan (via telephone link-up).
Mr Harris, on behalf of Trainer Luke McCarthy sought and was granted an adjournment to consider the evidence thus far and to call and question further witnesses including further expert evidence.
The inquiry was adjourned until Monday 21 May 2012 at 10 am at the offices of the HRNSW.
