Bettors Delight - sire of outstanding WA 3yo fillies Bettor Cover Lover and Aussie Made Lombo

Outstanding fillies Bettor Cover Lover and Aussie Made Lombo will clash in the $100,000 Victoria Oaks at Melton on Friday night before heading west to contest the $150,000 WA Oaks at Gloucester Park on May 13.
Bettor Cover Lover, raced by a syndicate headed by WA veterinary surgeon Trevor Lindsay, is ideally drawn at barrier three in the 2240m Victoria Oaks, while the WA-bred Aussie Made Lombo, owned by WA breeder Rob Watson, will start from the inside of the back line.
Bettor Cover Lover and Aussie Made Lombo each scored decisive victories in heats of the classic at Melton last Friday night.
Bettor Cover Lover, driven by his trainer Brent Mangos, started from the back line and raced three wide in the first lap before getting to the front. She rated 1.59.2. Aussie Made Lombo, driven by Chris Alford for trainer Jayne Davies, started from barrier four and raced wide early before leading and winning at a 1.58.3 rate.
Both fillies have outstanding records. Bettor Cover Lover has amassed $507,481 in prizemoney from his ten wins (nine in New Zealand) and four placings from 14 starts. Aussie Made Lombo has had 26 starts for 15 wins, 11 placings and stakes of $393,471. She is out of former champion mare Tailamade Lombo, who had 110 starts for 49 wins, 25 placings and earnings of $1,354,978.
On 1998 Tailamade Lombo’s wins included the Victoria, WA, Queensland and Australian Oaks (at Moonee Valley) and the Australian Derby at Harold Park.
New Zealand-bred filly Millwood Kansas ran an encouraging trial for the WA Oaks when she scored an emphatic victory at her Australian debut at Gloucester Park on Monday afternoon.
Trained by Greg Bond and driven by Colin Brown, Millwood Kansas started from barrier eight and settled down in ninth position before Brown dashed her forward, three wide, after 520m. She moved outside the pacemaker Arousing 1200m from home before taking the lead with 450m to travel and then racing away to win by 10m from the strong-finishing If I Had A Dream, rating 1.58 over the 2100m.
Millwood Kansas is a half-sister to Millwood Meg, who won the WA Oaks last year before going on to win the Gold Coast and Queensland Oaks.
