Stewards today completed their inquiry into an incident at Bendemeer on July 28th 2008.

Evidence was taken from Mr. Robert Clement a Trainer/Driver who was under disqualification at the time of the incident and Mr. Wayne Kerwick who was at the time employed at the secretary manager of the Tamworth Harness Racing Club.

Mr. Robert Clement pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting a person employed in the harness racing industry in that on the 28th July 2008 he did assault Mr. Wayne Kerwick a person known to him and a person who he was aware was employed by the Tamworth Harness Racing Club as their secretary manager.

In accessing penalty stewards considered Mr. Clement’s guilty plea, the circumstances surrounding the incident and Mr. Clement’s overall record in Harness Racing.

Mr. Clement was disqualified for 3 years with the penalty to commence at the completion of his current period of disqualification.
