Harness Racing South Australia Stewards on Thursday 9th May 2024 inquired into the Human And Supplement Testing Australia a division of Racing Analytical Services Limited, Victoria report on Saliva Sample taken from reins person Ken Rogers at Globe Derby Park on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 where he had driven in Races 2 and 3 with engagements in Races 5,6,7,8,9 and 11 which he was subsequently replaced on.
On Tuesday 23rd April 2024 Stewards had directed that all drivers with engagements at the meeting undergo a saliva test and the initial test from Ken Rogers returned a Non-Negative reading there fore he was required to have another Saliva Sample to be tested by HASTA.
The report on that sample from HASTA was Amphetamine and Methamphetamine confirmed as Positive with these substances being banned under AHRR 251.
Stewards charged Mr. Rogers under AHRR 250 (1) A driver commits an offence if:=
- A sample taken from him is found upon analysis to contain a substance banned by Rule 251 to which he pleaded guilty.
Following submissions on penalty from Mr. Rogers and considering the plea of guilty and taking into consideration his previous record of offences which had four past breaches of the banned substances rule a Two-year disqualification of his licence was imposed back dated to commence from 23rd April 2024.
HRSA Stewards have undertaken to assist Mr. Rogers by way of support from the HRSA Industry Access Programme should he apply for assistance.
Mr. Rogers was made aware of his Right to Appeal the Stewards decision.
