The Bain train gathered momentum on Saturday evening at Globe Derby Park collecting victories in the last three races.
Aaron Bain Racing, based in Gawler, was a major owner of feature two-year-old winner Miss Disturbia along with Better Brother and Heza Player which each finished best to take out their races.
ABR also had success at Melton in Victoria with The Only Decision taking out the Benstud Standardbreds Pace (2240m).
Involved in all of the winners was strong stable supporter Nicole Rantanen Reynolds who had a busy weekend as president of the Grange Golf Club which hosted the super successful LIV golf tournament. It didn’t stop her and husband David venturing to Globe Derby Park to cheer home the trio of winners.
The most significant of the ABR winners was the two-year-old filly Miss Disturbia which took out the 2024 SA BOTRA Kindergarten Stakes (1800m).
The victory followed ABR’s quinella a week earlier in the $250,000 Nutrien Equine Classic for two-year-old fillies at Melton with Miss Australiana and Ivseenheavenslight.
A red hot $1.10 favourite, Miss Disturbia, driven by Samantha Pascoe, sat parked in the Kindergarten with trainer-driver Ryan Hryhorec trying to control the tempo on the leader Torque Intheusa.
He recorded moderate sections of 32.8 and 31.3 seconds early before going into the back straight Pascoe said, “let’s race.”
Miss Disturbia put the pressure on and Torque Intheusa responded but turning for home the favourite asserted her superiority to draw clear and win by six metres sprinting home in 29.1 and 28 seconds.
Third-placed Oil The Frisbee ($101), 20-1/2 metres away third.
Bain said it had been a great start by the ABR two-year-olds.
“Miss Disturbia and last week’s quinella are all trained by Clayton Tonkin and his partner Emma Stewart, but I am very proud and thankful of the team at my Gawler stables,” Bain said.
“All three which have raced so far had all their early education here in Gawler and qualified here before heading across to Victoria.
“The team worked hard to ensure the horses were ready to race before going to Clayton and Emma for their polish so there is a strong Adelaide connection.
“Miss Disturbia will join Miss Australiana and Ivseenheavenslight in the paddock having a break before being prepared for the VicBred series later in the year.”
The team is also excited by another two-year-old coming through called Beach Diamond which qualified at Gawler on Sunday and will head across to Victoria shortly.
Bain’s other winners Better Brother and Heza Player were both driven by concession driver Bernadette Page, who works for ABR stables during the week.
Each time Page displayed a perfect understanding of her drives settling at the tail of the field each time before coming with well timed runs to grab victories.
Bettor Brother ($2.20 into $1.55 fav) scored a 4-1/2 metre win in the Pacing For Pink Through May Pace (2230m) sprinting strongly over the final 200 metres.
Heza Player ($2.90) sustained a long run over the final 300 metres to catch the leader Heston Blue Streak ($15) and win by 1-1/2 metres in the Hygain SA Concession Drivers Series Pace (1800m).
Pascoe had a driving double scoring on the very promising squaregaiter All The Trix for Wasleys trainer Claire Goble.
Taking on the state’s best trotters for the first time, All The Trix ($3.40) showed a brilliant turn of speed up the home straight to easily win the King Of The North @ Ilowalong Farm Trotters Handicap (2230m).
The four-year-old look to be in trouble coming off the back when back in the fifth spot between runners but exploded when in the clear to win easily.
Leading driver for the night was veteran Gaita Pullicino who landed a treble, all for different trainers.
Whata Optimist ($3.30) put in a tough effort for trainer Lui Trotta before My Ultimate Levi ($4.40) was sensational for his mentor Ryan Hryhorec.
Pullicino brought up the treble on Hanging Fire ($1.35 fav) for Mario Borg.
A family affair to open the night with Buckles landing some long price bets in taking out the Ladbrokes It! Trotters Handicap (2230m).
Backed from $50 into $13, Buckles finished strongly to run down the leader and $1.50 favourite Onestep Ahead.
Buckles is trained by Ingrid Smith and, with husband David sidelined, son Michael hopped in the sulky with a well-judged drive.
