A number of Sydney trainers are heading over the Blue Mountains to Bathurst tonight. 

With heats of the Star Trek series the main lure, one horseman looking to secure a spot in the $14,994 final on January 19 is Alex Alchin. 

The Menangle Park conditioner will produce Gimme A Reason in the first heat, race four. 

The For A Reason gelding has won his two starts this preparation in slick times at Goulburn and Newcastle, respectively. 

The four-year-old has only had four starts to date. 

Alchin will also take former Victorian pacer Bankroll to Bathurst tonight. 

Alchin prepares a small team of horses while also working as an equine dentist. 

The younger brother of horsemen Jarrod and Rickie Alchin, the 28-year-old has trained 36 winners since the 2011/12 season.
