PREMIERSHIP winning reinswoman Samantha Pascoe equalled her best winning haul at Globe Derby last night.

After scoring in the first three events on the card, Pascoe completed a quartet midway through the evening before falling short of a fifth success when runner-up with Rocking With Charm.

It’s the second time Pascoe has made four trips to the winners’ circle during a meeting, with the first at the same venue on February 15, 2021.

“I was asked earlier in the day what I thought of my drives and said ‘they all have a solid chance without being too confident’,” Pascoe said.

“I didn’t feel there was any real outsiders among them, but wouldn’t say they were sure things either.

“It was going to be a matter of wait and see how the night panned out and I’m glad it panned out in my favour.”

Pascoe opened her account with Star Writer which led home a Shane Loone-trained trifecta.

Causing a minor upset at $8.50, Star Writer rated 1:59.8 over 2230 metres as his stablemates Jakes Sportwriter and Crookwell Jake filled the placings.

Pascoe landed an early double after Steele completed a 1:56.7 victory over 1800 metres as the $1.75 favourite before the concession driver combined with her trainer-father, Scott, to emerge triumphant with Super Angus.

Upstaging his more fancied rivals as a $31 outsider, Sir Lucas rounded out Pascoe’s quartet when he accounted for Jaccka Ted and Cullenburn in 1:56.3 over 1800 metres.

“Everything went his way and he was able to make the most of it,” Pascoe said. “He got the perfect trip and finished off as you’d expect after a couple of runs back to improve his fitness.

“It made for a great night and it’s times like this which remind us why we love harness racing.”
