Racing Queensland has announced mandatory temperature testing will be rolled out at all harness racing meetings from this week.

With a raft of biosecurity measures already in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, temperature testing will commence at Albion Park on Tuesday, March 31 and all future meetings at Redcliffe and Marburg until further notice.

Upon entering each racecourse, permitted on-course personnel – click here to see those eligible to attend harness racing meetings - must immediately undergo a temperature check with those displaying a temperature of 37.8 or above will not be permitted to enter and/or compete.

Anyone experiencing an elevated temperature will be given the opportunity to have a secondary temperature test up to 15 minutes following the first assessment, but if the person’s temperature remains elevated, they shall be required to leave the venue and are advised to seek medical advice through 13HEALTH.

For participants who fail a temperature test, a medical clearance to the satisfaction of the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission may be required before attending a race meeting again.
