Harness Racing Australia (HRA) would like to take the opportunity to remind participants of their obligations around Deregistration and Deceased notifications.
Horse Traceability is of critical importance to the industry at large, and, the State Controlling Bodies will continue to keep a strong focus in this area with significant penalties applied for false, misleading or inaccurate information.
A particular focus for HRA and the State Controlling Bodies is the accuracy of information being supplied on these forms, including the horse’s next destination/owner’s details. This information is mandatory and random checks will be conducted and a penalty can be applied under the following rule:
209. A person employed, engaged or participating in the harness racing industry shall not knowingly or recklessly furnish false information to the Controlling Body, the Stewards or anyone else.
Horses which are to be sold at a public sale/auction must be deregistered prior to being entered for the sale. No changes to a horse’s status may be made once the horse is officially catalogued in a sale.
If a horse is sold without being deregistered, HRA rules dictate that the horse will be sold with signed Transfer of Ownership papers to allow the horse to remain in the harness racing industry.
