RACING TO RETURN TO GLOBE DERBY

Harness Racing SA (HRSA) and the South Australian Harness Racing Club (SAHRC) are pleased to jointly announce that following negotiations between the two parties, harness racing will return to Globe Derby Park effective 1st June 2019.

The primary outcome of the negotiations, concluded today, are that HRSA and the SAHRC have reached an agreement whereby, effective 1st July 2019, HRSA will assume responsibility for management and facilitation of both racing and training operations at the Globe Derby Park complex. While the documentation is being prepared, it is the parties’ intention that these outcomes will be achieved by way of an amended lease agreement, which effectively migrates the management of racing and training activities of the club to HRSA.

The SAHRC Committee will remain responsible for all Club related matters, including the management of club assets, the licensed club, gaming and wagering operations at the Globe Derby venue.

Both HRSA and SAHRC firmly believe that the outcomes achieved today provide a clear and definitive pathway forward for harness racing at Globe Derby Park, with both organisations working tirelessly towards the common goal of promoting and strengthening harness racing in the state.

The SAHRC Management Committee will be advising shortly the date for an information forum to permit interested parties the opportunity to discuss this positive outcome and provide any further clarification of the outcomes arrived at to date.

Finally, both HRSA and SAHRC would like to acknowledge both Harness Racing Australia and the Commissioner of Consumer and Business Services in assisting with the process of reaching the outcomes achieved which both parties feel is in the best interests of all participants of the industry.
